Family picture

We are all smiling but I think most of us had one thought on our minds. "why am I sitting in duck shit."

Family photo; 2011. Wheeler Farm. Taken by Jessika Reed @ Royce & Molly studios

Family pictures always have confused me. They seem to be a necessary evil but are they? To me, they are fabricated, posed, fake, untrue. Even in the real setting, of Wheeler Farm, all I see is a fake background.

Family pictures, generally, are the exact opposite of what the picture below shows. What we do. How we REALLY dress. Behave. Act. Interact with each other. And it comes complete with memories. Of us  spending an evening running in the rain. Making bird calls. Laughing. Living. And being together.
Family photo; 2011. Capitol Reef National Park. Taken with Olympus SP-565uz, auto setting 12 sec.
What do you put on your wall?  Does anyone else think about this?

  1. I have often thought the same thing. Especially when putting together adoption profile photos. It's hard to be on the outside capturing a moment while you are living the moment. Either way... Beautiful family! Miss you so much!

  2. Teresa here: I tried to post on Monday, but it wouldn't accept my post...it was too boring I suppose. ;-) I actually think about your point every time we have an "official" picture taken. One year, while we were adjusting clothing and settling arguments, the photographer snapped a photo to test the lighting. It was the one we ended up choosing out of all the others. It was perfectly us and is one of our favorites.
